Present Work and Affiliations Previous Career Experience
As a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), I work as a relationship specialist, trained to assess diagnosis and treat individuals, couples, families and groups. My goal is to assist clients in creating more satisfying and productive relationships. I practice premarital and marital counseling, child and youth counseling, divorce or separation counseling and other types of psychotherapy. As a practitioner in this field, I have extensive training in working with children, adolescents, couples, individuals and families. I have treated clients suffering from a wide range of emotional and behavioral difficulties. I have worked in an adult outpatient psychiatric facility, two family association clinics, and, for the last three years, a non-profit children’s agency, funded by the California Department of Mental Health. I am certified in the use of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). TF-CBT is an evidenced-based treatment that addresses the negative effects of traumatic events such as: physical, sexual or emotional abuse, life-threatening situations or significant losses. Often these experiences result in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or similar symptoms. By integrating several therapeutic approaches and treating both child and parent, TF-CBT is effective and one of the most successful treatments for trauma. This treatment is typically completed within 12-16 sessions. The other treatment modalities I use are eclectic in nature and are tailored to the needs of the individual, couple, or family. I focus on my client’s strengths, their abilities to make changes in their lives, and their desire to improve their overall wellbeing. I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients to implement appropriate interventions that reach their desired goals.
